Our charity of the year – Alzheimer’s Society
Harbour Underwriting is proud to support Alzheimer’s Society as our charity of the year.
One of Alzheimer’s Society’s initiatives is its partnership with Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD), which has been set up by leaders in the insurance industry.
IUAD’s goal is to raise £10m to support the 850,000 people now living with dementia in the UK.
Harbour Underwriting’s aim this year is to raise £10,000 towards IUAD’s goal. See below to check out our progress to date or to donate to Alzheimer’s Society via Just Giving.
About Alzheimer’s Society
One in three people in the UK will develop dementia during their lifetime. Sadly, there is currently no cure for the disease, and only limited treatments are available. Dementia has a devastating impact not only on the people it affects but also on their family and those close to them. It also has consequences for the broader community as it costs the UK economy more than £34bn every year.
Dementia is challenging enough at the best of times, but the Covid-19 pandemic has left many people with the disease overwhelmed by feelings of isolation, insecurity and fear.
That’s why supporting Alzheimer’s Society this year is more critical than ever.
About Insurance United Against Dementia
Insurance United Against Dementia is challenging the insurance industry to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society and help transform dementia treatment and care in the UK.
We are delighted to support this endeavour.
Raising funds is just part of IUAD’s goal. It also aims to increase awareness of dementia in the insurance industry and improve the support available to customers and staff affected by the disease.
