Support Through Court
Support Through Court helps people facing civil and family courts alone. Every year, thousands of people in the UK have to represent themselves in legal proceedings that may have a life-changing impact, such as homelessness or loss of access to their children.
If they are up against a party with legal representation, they are at an enormous disadvantage. Our legal system was not designed with laypeople in mind, and its procedures and terminology can be overwhelming.
The charity celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025 and, since its founding, has supported people on over 650,000 occasions, providing free, practical and emotional support to individuals representing themselves in civil and family courts across England and Wales.
Emma Rushworth, Corporate Fundraising Officer for Support Through Court, said: “We are delighted to be a charity partner for another year, it really does make such a difference.
“Currently, we’re on track to provide up to 50,000 sessions of assistance this year, assistance which will improve the situation of people in a time of great need. We can only provide our service with the support of our donors like Harbour Underwriting, so thank you.”
